Executive Summary
The Jupiter Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card has become significantly less rewarding for light and occasional shoppers.
Previously, eligible purchases at merchants such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata Cliq, Ajio, Nykaa, Croma, Reliance Digital and select Tata/Reliance retail stores could earn 50% Jewels without a ₹15,000 statement-cycle spending requirement.
From 10 October 2026, the structure works differently:
- 5% Jewels are credited immediately on eligible shopping transactions.
- The remaining 45% Jewels are credited only at the end of the billing cycle.
- To receive those additional Jewels, total qualified spending during the statement cycle must be greater than ₹15,000.
- Spending exactly ₹15,000 is not enough.
- If the threshold is not crossed, the additional 45% Jewels are not credited.
- Existing shopping reward caps remain unchanged.
This is a meaningful devaluation for people who kept Edge+ primarily for occasional Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra or electronics purchases.
For users already putting more than ₹15,000 of genuine eligible monthly spending through the card, the headline shopping reward can still be preserved.

In This Guide
Jupiter has added a major spending condition to the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card's headline shopping rewards. From 10 October 2026, cardholders must cross ₹15,000 in qualified statement-cycle spending to receive the full 50% Jewels on eligible shopping transactions. Fall short, and those purchases earn only 5% Jewels.
Terms verified: 16 October 2026
Before the change
Eligible shopping transactions earned:
50% Jewels
There was no ₹15,000 qualified statement-cycle spending hurdle attached to unlocking that rate.
From 10 October 2026
Eligible shopping transactions initially earn:
5% Jewels
The remaining:
45% Jewels
are credited at statement-cycle end only when the cardholder's total qualified spending for that cycle is greater than ₹15,000.
If the threshold is not crossed, the shopping transactions remain at the 5% Jewels rate.
| Shopping Rewards | Earlier Structure | From 10 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate reward | 50% Jewels structure | 5% Jewels |
| Additional reward | No ₹15,000 spend gate | 45% Jewels at cycle-end |
| Monthly qualified spend requirement | None | More than ₹15,000 |
| If threshold is missed | Full shopping structure applied | Only 5% Jewels |
| Shopping category cap | 10,000 Jewels | 10,000 Jewels |
| Per-merchant cap | 3,000 Jewels | 3,000 Jewels |
| Per-transaction cap | 1,000 Jewels | 1,000 Jewels |
The caps have therefore not become worse.
The big change is access to the accelerated rate itself.
₹15,000 Exactly Does Not Unlock the Full Reward
This is one detail cardholders should not overlook.
Jupiter's current terms use the wording:
greater than ₹15,000
That means:
₹15,000 = threshold not crossed
₹15,001 = threshold crossed
assuming all of that spending qualifies.
Calling this simply a "₹15,000 monthly spend requirement" can therefore be slightly misleading.
You actually need to go above ₹15,000 in qualified statement-cycle spending.
You Do Not Need to Spend ₹15,000 Only on Amazon or Flipkart
The ₹15,000 condition is also broader than it might initially appear.
You do not need to spend the entire amount at the accelerated shopping merchants.
Eligible spending elsewhere on the card can contribute towards the qualified-spend threshold.
Consider this example.
You spend:
- ₹8,000 across eligible shopping merchants
- ₹7,000 on other qualified card transactions
Total qualified spend:
₹15,000
You still fail the requirement because you have not gone above ₹15,000.
Now suppose the other eligible spending becomes ₹7,001.
Total qualified spend:
₹15,001
You have crossed the threshold.
The eligible shopping transactions can then receive the balance 45% Jewels at cycle-end, subject to the transaction, merchant and category caps.
This makes Edge+ somewhat easier to optimise for someone already using it as a regular spending card.
But it also creates the wrong incentive for someone who would otherwise spend only ₹5,000–₹10,000 on it.
Spending extra money solely to unlock a credit-card reward rarely makes sense.
What Counts Towards the ₹15,000 Requirement?
Jupiter defines qualified spending broadly, but several categories do not count.
Current exclusions for the qualified-spend calculation include categories such as:
- Wallet loads and similar funding transactions
- Rent
- Gift-card purchases
- Gaming
- Gambling and betting
- ATM or cash withdrawals
- Quasi-cash transactions
- Cryptocurrency purchases
- EMI conversions
- Disputed transactions
- Reversed transactions
- Certain education payments made through third-party apps
That means your statement balance and your qualified spending total can be different.
A customer could have ₹20,000 showing as total transactions during the month and still fail to cross ₹15,000 in qualified spending if a large portion falls into excluded categories.
50% Jewels Does Not Mean 50% Cashback
This distinction becomes even more important after the change.
Jupiter uses Jewels as its reward currency.
For Edge+, the current redemption values are:
- Jupiter Flights, Jupiter Store, brand vouchers and digital gold: ₹0.20 per Jewel
- Statement credit, bill payments and cash or cash-equivalent redemptions: ₹0.14 per Jewel
So 50% Jewels should not be read as 50% cashback.
For every ₹100 of qualifying shopping spend, before reward caps:
50 Jewels × ₹0.20 = ₹10
That is effectively a 10% return when redeemed through the higher-value ₹0.20 options.
If those Jewels are redeemed as statement credit:
50 Jewels × ₹0.14 = ₹7
That is effectively a 7% return.
Now look at what happens if you fail to cross the ₹15,000 threshold.
You receive only 5 Jewels per ₹100.
At the higher ₹0.20 redemption value:
5 Jewels × ₹0.20 = ₹1
Effective return:
1%
As statement credit:
5 Jewels × ₹0.14 = ₹0.70
Effective return:
0.7%
That is the real impact of this change.
For someone who does not cross the spending threshold, the shopping reward rate falls by 90% in Jewel terms, from 50 Jewels per ₹100 to just 5 Jewels per ₹100.
The Shopping Merchants Have Not Changed
The updated terms continue to list the accelerated shopping category across merchants including:
- Amazon
- Flipkart
- Myntra
- Tata Cliq
- Ajio
- Nykaa
- Croma
- Reliance Digital
- Trent Retail / Tata Retail
- Reliance Retail
The problem is therefore not a reduction in merchant coverage.
It is the new requirement placed in front of the existing reward rate.
Existing Shopping Caps Still Matter
Even after crossing ₹15,000, Edge+ does not suddenly provide unlimited accelerated shopping rewards.
The existing caps continue.
Shopping category cap
10,000 Jewels per statement cycle
At a ₹0.20 redemption value, that can represent up to:
₹2,000 of value
At ₹0.14 per Jewel through statement credit, the same 10,000 Jewels would be worth:
₹1,400
Per-merchant cap
3,000 Jewels per statement cycle
Maximum value at ₹0.20 per Jewel:
₹600
Per-transaction cap
1,000 Jewels
Maximum value at ₹0.20 per Jewel:
₹200
So even users who cross the ₹15,000 spending hurdle still need to understand the transaction and merchant caps.
A very large one-time purchase does not automatically receive an uncapped 10% effective return.
Jupiter Still Advertises "50% Jewels on Shopping"
Jupiter's current Edge+ product page continues to prominently advertise:
50% Jewels on Shopping
That headline is still achievable.
But it now comes with an important condition contained in the detailed terms: the full rate requires more than ₹15,000 in qualified statement-cycle spending.
This makes the headline considerably less useful for someone evaluating the card based only on occasional online-shopping transactions.
The right question is no longer:
"Does Edge+ give 50% Jewels on Amazon or Flipkart?"
It is:
"Will I naturally cross ₹15,000 of qualified spending every billing cycle?"
For many cardholders, that produces a very different answer.
Travel and Other Rewards Are Not Part of This Devaluation
The October change specifically affects how the accelerated shopping reward is unlocked on the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card.
The current terms continue to show:
25% Jewels on Jupiter Flights
with a cap of 5,000 Jewels per statement cycle.
Other eligible spends continue to earn:
5% Jewels
The ₹15,000 condition therefore should not be interpreted as a complete rewrite of every Edge+ reward category.
It is primarily a restriction on the card's biggest shopping benefit.
The RuPay Card Remains Lifetime Free
The Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card currently carries no annual fee under the applicable terms.
That matters when assessing the devaluation.
This has not suddenly become a bad card simply because its best reward has become harder to unlock.
A lifetime-free card can still be worth keeping even when it stops being your primary shopping card.
The better question for existing users is whether Edge+ still deserves meaningful monthly spending.
For someone consistently crossing ₹15,000 in qualified spending anyway, probably yes.
For someone who previously used the card only for a few high-reward shopping transactions every month, the answer is much weaker.
Who Is Hurt the Most?
Occasional online shoppers
This group takes the biggest hit.
Someone who kept Edge+ specifically for Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra or Nykaa purchases but spends only ₹5,000–₹10,000 in total qualifying transactions during a normal billing cycle can no longer access the full accelerated rate.
Their eligible shopping rewards fall to 5% Jewels.
Users who spread spending across several cards
Credit-card optimisers often use different cards for different categories.
That strategy becomes less attractive with Edge+ because the card now wants more than ₹15,000 of total qualified monthly spending before releasing its full shopping rewards.
People with high excluded-category spending
A user may believe they are comfortably crossing ₹15,000 because their statement total is high.
But rent, wallet loads, EMI conversions and other excluded transactions may not help unlock the benefit.
The relevant figure is qualified spend, not simply total billed transactions.
Who Is Barely Affected?
Someone already using Edge+ as a regular everyday card and naturally spending well over ₹15,000 in qualifying transactions every cycle can continue receiving the full shopping reward structure.
For that user, the new requirement is more of an additional qualification rule than an actual reduction in earned rewards.
But that does not make the overall change neutral.
A benefit that previously worked at lower spending levels now requires a substantially higher commitment to the card.
For light users, that is a clear devaluation.
Should You Move Extra Spending to Edge+ Just to Cross ₹15,000?
Usually, no.
Suppose your normal qualified spend on Edge+ is ₹9,000.
Moving another ₹6,001 to the card merely to cross the threshold may unlock additional shopping Jewels, but that does not automatically mean doing so creates the highest overall reward.
Those transactions may earn more on another card.
You should compare:
extra reward unlocked on Edge+
against:
reward sacrificed by moving spending away from another card
The spending threshold should be met naturally.
It should not become a target that encourages unnecessary spending.
Better Alternatives for Lower-Spending Online Shoppers
The Edge+ change makes other cards more attractive for users who do not naturally cross ₹15,000 in monthly qualified spending.
Cashback SBI Card
Cashback SBI Card currently offers 5% cashback on eligible online spending, with a ₹2,000 online cashback cap per statement cycle.
There is no requirement to first cross ₹15,000 of monthly spending to unlock the 5% rate.
Its disadvantage is cost: the card carries a ₹999 annual fee, although the renewal fee can be waived on eligible annual spending of ₹2 lakh.
This is the stronger alternative if your online shopping is spread across many websites rather than concentrated only on Jupiter's selected shopping merchants.
HDFC Bank Millennia Credit Card
HDFC Millennia provides 5% CashPoints on ten specified online merchants including Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Tata Cliq, with a 1,000 CashPoint cap on the accelerated category.
CashPoints can be redeemed against the card statement at ₹1 per CashPoint.
The card carries a ₹1,000 membership fee, with renewal waiver available on annual spending of ₹1 lakh.
For someone spending modest amounts on Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra who does not want to route more than ₹15,000 through Edge+ every month, Millennia remains a straightforward alternative.
Neither alternative automatically beats Edge+ for everyone.
Edge+ remains lifetime free and can still deliver substantially higher value on eligible shopping when the threshold is crossed and Jewels are redeemed through the higher-value options.
The point is that lower-spending users now have a much stronger reason to compare alternatives.
What Existing Edge+ Users Should Do
If you already hold the Edge+ RuPay card, there is no immediate reason to close it purely because of this change.
Instead, look at your last three to six billing cycles.
If your qualified spending naturally stays above ₹15,000 every month, the shopping proposition remains useful.
If you usually spend below that level, stop treating Edge+ as an automatic 10% shopping card.
The new structure means those occasional Amazon or Flipkart purchases can deliver only around 1% value at the higher Jewel redemption rate, or roughly 0.7% if redeemed as statement credit.
At that point, another online-shopping card may be considerably more rewarding.

CardRecommend Verdict
This is a meaningful devaluation, even though Jupiter has not reduced the headline 50% Jewel rate itself.
The important change is that the rate is now locked behind more than ₹15,000 of qualified statement-cycle spending.
That fundamentally changes who the Edge+ shopping benefit works for.
For someone already spending ₹15,001 or more in qualifying transactions every month, Edge+ remains attractive: the card is lifetime free, selected shopping merchants can still deliver up to a 10% effective reward at the best Jewel redemption value, and the existing shopping caps have not been cut.
For a light user, the story is very different.
Missing the threshold takes eligible shopping transactions from 50% Jewels to just 5% Jewels. That means the effective value can fall from 10% to 1% at the higher redemption rate, or from 7% to 0.7% when using statement credit.
That is too large a drop to dismiss as a minor qualification change.
CardRecommend would keep Edge+ if you already hold it because the RuPay variant remains lifetime free, but we would no longer recommend routing occasional shopping transactions to it unless you naturally expect to cross the qualified-spend threshold.
Do not spend an extra ₹5,000 or ₹10,000 merely to unlock the reward.
If your normal monthly qualified spending stays below ₹15,000, a simpler online-shopping cashback card is now the better tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
When did the Jupiter Edge+ shopping reward change take effect?
The updated shopping reward structure applies from 10 October 2026.
How much do I need to spend to get 50% Jewels?
Your total qualified statement-cycle spending must be greater than ₹15,000. Spending exactly ₹15,000 does not satisfy the current wording.
Do I need to spend more than ₹15,000 only at Amazon and Flipkart?
No. Other qualified transactions can contribute towards the statement-cycle spending threshold. The 50% Jewels themselves continue to apply only to eligible shopping transactions at the listed merchants.
What happens if I spend less than ₹15,000?
Eligible shopping transactions receive only 5% Jewels. The remaining 45% Jewels are not credited if the qualified-spend condition is not met.
Is 50% Jewels the same as 50% cashback?
No. At the current ₹0.20 per Jewel redemption value available on options such as Jupiter Flights, Jupiter Store, brand vouchers and digital gold, 50 Jewels per ₹100 represents a 10% effective return. For statement-credit redemption at ₹0.14 per Jewel, it represents 7%.
What is the effective reward if I miss the ₹15,000 threshold?
5 Jewels per ₹100 are worth ₹1 at the ₹0.20 redemption rate, equivalent to 1%. As statement credit at ₹0.14 per Jewel, the value is ₹0.70 per ₹100, or 0.7%.
Has the monthly shopping cap also been reduced?
No. The current terms continue to show a 10,000-Jewel shopping category cap, 3,000-Jewel per-merchant cap and 1,000-Jewel per-transaction cap.
Does the Edge+ RuPay Credit Card still have an annual fee?
The current terms state that no annual fee applies to the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card.
